About Kundalini Yoga
When you understand who and what you are, your radiance projects into the universal radiance and everything around you becomes creative and full of opportunity.
~Yogi Bhajan~
Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. It is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to give you an experience of your soul.
In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.
Kundalini Yoga is a yoga for householders, for people who have to cope with the daily challenges and stresses of holding jobs, raising families, and managing businesses. It is a path for everyone who wants the skills to cope successfully with the challenges of our times.
Kundalini Yoga was kept very secret until 1969 when Yogi Bhajan taught it openly in order to prepare humanity for the major changes that this planet is going through as we cross from the Piscean to the Aquarian Age. The ancient technology of Kundalini Yoga gives us the awareness and the fortitude to make this a smooth transition. The legacy of technical and spiritual knowledge that Yogi Bhajan studied and mastered in India is the gift he brought to the West.
Kundalini Yoga is not a religion. When we apply the technology of Kundalini Yoga to our bodies and minds, it has the effect of uplifting the spirit. It is for everyone. It is universal and nondenominational. ~Yogi Bhajan~

Ajeet Khalsa and Nicole Fey have been visioning the Kundalini Rising Yoga Festival, a summer solstice celebration on the east coast, for 6 years. Finally, last year, all the elements came together and the festival was born. What started as a "labor of love" for Ajeet and Nicole, has culminated in a joyous celebration, a sacred gathering, a prayer for peace. With gratitude and love, we are delighted to announce the fourth year of The Kundalini Rising Yoga Festival!

About Featured Presenter Dr. Rai Kaur Khalsa
Dr. Rai Kaur Khalsa began her practice of Kundalini Yoga in 1972 in Newark, DE. She and Rai Singh were married by Yogi Bhajan at Winter Solstice in 1974 and opened the Guru Ram Das Ashram in Knoxville, TN in 1977. She has been an active yoga teacher there, as well as a leader in the Sikh community ever since, and they have been sponsoring an annual White Tantric Yoga workshop in Knoxville for the past 26 years. Rai Kaur led the young women's program at the annual 3HO Women's Camp in Espanola, NM for many years, and she and Rai Singh together re-organized and led the teen program at Summer and Winter Solstices for over a decade. They have also been guest teachers at Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar, India. Children's Camp Leaders
Jill Frere creates and performs dances with Go! Contemporary Dance Works and Studio Arts for Dancers. She graduated from Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi and completed her 200 hr certification in 2005, 500 hr in 2010, and 800 hr in 2015. And as of May, she is completing her 1000 hr. teacher training. This is Jill's 3rd time leading the children's camp, and she will also be teaching a Dharma Yoga class at the Gathering.
Noah Frere is a graduate student in Astrophysics at University of Tennessee, studying asteroids and meteorites. He has been tuning and repairing pianos as a business, Know-a Piano, since 2006. His hobby is bonsai, and you will likely see him distracted by the local plants throughout the weekend, or anywhere he goes, since plants hide in all sorts of places. This is his third time working at the Children’s Camp alongside his wife, Jill Frere, and their 4-year old daughter, Santosha."

We are so happy to have Kaela O'Dell back for the fourth year of the festival to co-lead Children's Camp. Kaela is a mother wearing many hats. She is a scientist, and environmental advocate, as well as a gardener, and yogi. She has played songs on her cello for Dancing Spider Yoga, and practices yoga daily with her daughter, Haleigh. She enjoys painting, singing, and exploring nature with the little ones at the Kundalini Rising Children's Camp.
This year, we welcome Elli McNall and Corey Pope to co-lead Children's Camp. Corelli Art Studio was created by Elli McNall and Corey Pope, an award winning Knoxville based artist team who love sharing art with old and young alike. They met while obtaining Fine Art Degrees at Winthrop University and since have worked in a variety of art fields. Currently they teach a 4x a week Nature Art Club at a local forest preschool as well as an art class for homeschool students. Additionally they paint murals, set up artist booths, sell and show their fine art. At the core, they want to create, teach, and inspire others through art and sustainability.
Children's Camp will be held Saturday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and Sunday 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. For ages 4 - 12.
